Our Mission
We’re the leading authority in transforming care in the home. We are an inclusive thought leader, advocate, educator, and convener and the unifying voice for those providing and receiving healthcare through all stages of life.
Our Vision
We envision an America where everyone has access to the highest quality, person-centered healthcare wherever they call home.
About The Alliance
The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) are the two largest organizations representing, advocating for, educating, and connecting providers of care in the home for millions of disabled, elderly, and dying Americans who depend on that care.
The combined boards, leadership, and staff of NAHC and NHPCO are thrilled to share that we have officially signed an agreement to form a new, joint organization, the National Alliance for Care at Home.
This historic alliance will create the most powerful voice our community has seen fighting for our membership.
Thank you for your continued support of our critical work to unify and elevate the voice of the care-at-home community. We will continue to be your advocate, resource, and network, but now, we have more strength than ever before to help you achieve your goals now and in the future.
We are stronger together.

Why did NAHC and NHPCO decide to merge/combine?
As the serious-illness and care-at-home communities continue to evolve, national representation should evolve too, anticipating the resources, advocacy, and support providers nationwide will need.
The National Alliance for Care at Home means providers across the serious-illness, care-at-home, and end-of-life care continuum gain a stronger, more efficient partner to:
- Represent the community in Washington
- Deliver an expanded suite of resources to help you grow your organization
- Connect you and your colleagues with peers across the continuum of care
- Provide expert-led industry regulatory guidance
- Support and promote the highest quality standards for care
- Raise consumer awareness about the importance of serious-illness care, care-at-home, hospice, palliative care, and advance care planning.
The National Alliance for Care at Home brings nearly 90 years of combined organizational operating experience – and complementary capabilities – to create a new, stronger organization to lead into the future.

What is the name and brand of the organization?

Will the leadership change? What about the staff?
Steven Landers, MD, MPH, was named the inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the newly merged National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance) on August 26, 2024. For the remainder of 2024, Ben Marcantonio, COO, and Interim CEO for NHPCO, will serve as the Chief Integration Officer for the National Alliance for Care at Home, and NAHC President and CEO Bill Dombi will serve as President Emeritus. Bill will retire at the end of 2024. No other staffing changes will be made now, but the organization will continue to assess and evolve to meet our members’ needs.

How will my member benefits change?
NAHC and NHPCO are the two largest organizations representing, advocating, educating, and connecting providers of care in the home for millions of disabled, elderly, and dying Americans who depend on that care. This historic alliance will create the most powerful voice our community has seen fighting for our membership.
Coming together means we are better positioned to help you prepare for what’s to come, and to ensure that our larger, collective voice is heard on the issues that matter most.
Members of either legacy organization will soon have access to the existing resources of each through a new, temporary website during the transition period. Updates about accessing this website and other important news will be shared with our members when they become available.
In the future, members of the new organization will have access to the same member benefits – robust education, actionable toolkits and guidance, networking opportunities, and strong advocacy representation—but with more resources to deliver on these benefits than ever before.
