Elder care requires a special kind of person. It can’t just ‘be a job’ if you really want to make a difference in someone’s life. Cathleen recognized early on in her career that family support, involvement and concern all need to be understood and respected. As a Registered Nurse with a strong public health background, Cathleen Naughton opened her first office in 1978. Bundling her passion and commitment to the elderly with her nursing experience, Cathleen has created a business model many in Rhode Island have tried to copy, but few can duplicate.
To extend Cathleen’s philosophy about family, her daughter Caroline Naughton Rumowicz has been with the agency since its inception. Having earned a master’s degree in health services administration, she is now CNA’s chief executive officer. Caroline brings a second generation of CNA passion and commitment to elder care to Rhode Island.
