Program Changes & Transition

  • What has changed with the We Honor Veterans program?

The We Honor Veterans (WHV) Partner program is a member-only benefit of the Alliance. This means all programmatic components of WHV, including , partner recognition and achievement levels, will be available exclusively to Alliance members. All educational materials and resources currently available on the We Honor Veterans website will remain publicly available for community use.

We Honor Veterans is just one way that the Alliance supports veterans throughout the care continuum.

  • Why has the program transitioned to members-only?

In summer 2024, WHV completed its multi-year contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs. As the Alliance takes stewardship of the program, we’re ensuring its sustainability while expanding benefits and support for those committed to veteran-centered care. This transition allowed us to provide enhanced resources, mentorship, and recognition to our member partners.

  • When did the transition to members-only take effect?

The transition became effective starting April 2026. Previous WHV partners who are not yet Alliance members should contact membership@allianceforcareathome.org to learn more about Alliance membership options.

  • Will Partner Networking Calls continue? What is the “Caring for Veterans My Alliance Community”?

Yes! Partner Networking Calls will continue as revamped Office Hours and takes place within the Caring for Veterans My Alliance Community, a networking and collaboration space for all Alliance members who care for veterans or are interested in caring for veterans.

Caring for Veterans Office Hours are held every third Wednesday at 12:00 pm ET, allowing members the opportunity to connect, share resources, and support each other’s work with veterans, whether or not they’re participating in the WHV program.  Please note that office hours are not recorded. Alliance members can join the My Alliance Caring for Veterans community now.

Caring for Veteran Webinars are held monthly to explore broader issues impacting veterans’ care. Registration for these webinars is free for Alliance members, while non-members can register for a small fee at the time of registration. Webinars are recorded and available to all participants after the presentation.

  • When was the reporting deadline for prior program?

For the 2025 program year, January 15, 2026 served as the submission deadline for all levels under the prior structure, in alignment with final reporting requirements associated with the program restructuring.

  • What happens to my current level recognition?

Beginning in Fall 2026, the prior level achievements (Levels 1-5) will no longer be recognized as we transition to a new recognition structure. All organizations will start fresh under the updated framework when we begin reviewing reports in the fall for the 2026 recognition program. Please note that an Alliance membership is required to achieve recognition in the WHV program going forward.

Membership & Access

  • I’m a current WHV partner but not an Alliance member. What do I need to do?

To continue participating in the WHV Partner program, you’ll need to become an Alliance member. Membership opportunities for 2026 are available now. You can explore all member benefits on the Alliance website and begin your membership today. For questions, contact membership@allianceforcareathome.org or call 1-800-646-6460.

  • What happens to my current WHV partner level and recognition?

Your current recognition level will remain valid through 2026. All partners will have the ability to apply for recognition under the updated program structure. Please note that to participate in the new WHV program, your organization will need to be an Alliance member. Recognition emblems and marketing materials for all program levels under the updated WHV program will be made available after the Fall 2026 report review is completed.

  • Will I lose access to WHV resources if I’m not a member?

No. All educational materials and resources currently available on the We Honor Veterans website will remain publicly available. However, programmatic components such as partner recognition, achievement levels, office hours, mentorship, and access to the Caring for Veterans My Alliance community will be available to Alliance members only.

  • What public resources are available to non-members?

All educational materials currently on the We Honor Veterans website, including VA guidelines, training modules, toolkits, and general resources about serving Veterans, are freely accessible to all providers. Our commitment to supporting veteran-centered care in the broader community remains strong, even as the partner recognition program becomes members-only.

  • Our organization isn’t a hospice. Can we still be members and participate in WHV?

Absolutely! The Alliance serves the full care at home continuum, and the evolved WHV program is designed to support veterans across all care settings. Alliance membership is open to all care-at-home providers.

  • We’re already Alliance members. What do we need to do?

As a current member, you automatically have access to the updated WHV program 2026. Be sure to update your organization’s WHV primary contact information when initially logging into the Partner portal to receive ongoing communications regarding the WHV program.

  • When does our membership need to be active to participate in the new WHV program?

Membership must be active before your organization joins the updated WHV program. We recommend renewing or joining to ensure seamless access. For questions regarding Alliance member options, contact membership@allianceforcareathome.org.

Getting Started & Support

  • I’m already an Alliance member. Do I need to do anything?

If you’re already an Alliance member and a current WHV partner, you have access to the program.  Be sure to update your organization’s WHV primary contact information to receive ongoing communications about the updated program structure and instructions.

  • Who can I contact if I have questions?

  • Has the program structure or levels changed?

Yes. As part of this evolution, we have streamlined the program structure to better serve members across all care-at-home service lines. The program structure has changed from five levels to three. Achievement levels are identified as Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Additionally, WHV is no longer a tiered hospice-only program; it’s designed for all care-at-home service lines to recognize and honor veterans across the care continuum.

Portal and Technical Questions

  • I’m having technical difficulties accessing the portal. Who can help?

Membership with the Alliance is required to participate in the program and to access the updated WHV Partner portal. For questions regarding accessing the updated WHV Partner portal, contact veterans@allianceforcareathome.org.

  • Is there a separate fee for joining the WHV program for the existing Alliance members?

There is no additional cost to join the WHV program for existing Alliance members – WHV participation is already included as part of your Alliance member benefits. For more information visit Membership Benefits or contact membership@allianceforcareathome.org.

  • How can an organization that does not provide patient care at home engage with the WHV program?

If your organization does not provide patient care at home and if you are interested in partnering with the Alliance to support our mission of advancing veteran-centered care at home, we’d be happy to discuss business partnership and sponsorship opportunities. We encourage you to explore our Business Partner membership option to help you find the best fit for your involvement.

  • I am the primary contact for my organization’s WHV program. How can I access the portal?

When initially logging to the updated portal, you will be required to provide primary and secondary contact information for your organization.  Even if you are a returning WHV partner, you are required to complete this information, as the new WHV portal has not retained any information from the previous years.

If you have issues with accessing the portal with your Alliance credentials, contact membership@allianceforcareathome.org for assistance.

  • What happened to your organization’s WHV unique pin? How do you access your Partner Portal?

Your organization’s WHV pin is no longer required to access your WHV Partner portal. All members of your organization can access the portal using their Alliance email address and password. Please note that access to level reports and report submission is limited to the designated primary contact only.

  • Why do I need to provide secondary contact information? Is this required?

Providing secondary contact information is optional; however, it is strongly encouraged. All important program-related communications are sent to both the primary and secondary contacts. Designating a secondary contact helps ensure your organization’s ongoing efforts and meaningful work within the WHV program are properly tracked and supported. This also helps prevent missed communications during staffing transitions, such as when the primary contact is no longer with the organization.

  • How can I reset my password to access my organization’s WHV Partner portal, and how is it linked to my Alliance member Portal access?

Access to both your organization’s Alliance member portal and WHV Partner portal is available using your existing Alliance email address and password. To reset your password, select the “Reset your password” link on the Alliance Member login page and follow the instructions provided. If you need additional assistance with resetting your password, please contact membership@allianceforcareathome.org.
