Spreading Awareness That Home Is Where Care Happens
(Alexandria, VA)— November marks the start of National Care at Home Month, an annual opportunity to celebrate the unique value of care at home, and honor home care providers across the country. The majority of Americans prefer to receive care at home, and this observance month aims to inspire outreach to communities, media, and policymakers about the impact of care at home across the country. National Care at Home Month is spearheaded by the National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance), the largest organization representing, advocating for, educating, and connecting providers of care in the home for millions across the US who depend on that care.
National Care at Home Month honors the full continuum of care at home providers and the patients, families, and communities they serve. For millions of Americans, home is more than a place. It’s where dignity is preserved, independence is supported, and meaningful moments with loved ones continue. The theme for November 2026 is Home Is Where Care Happens, an opportunity to showcase the unique elements that differentiate the home setting from institutional care.
“There’s no substitute for care delivered in the place someone calls home, surrounded by family, familiar routines, and the comfort that speeds healing and eases hard days. National Care at Home Month is our opportunity to spread awareness about the unique value of this care, and to honor the trust that families across the country place in us every day. I am inspired every day by the patients, providers, and community members working tirelessly to build critical awareness of and protect access to home-based care for the millions of Americans who depend on it,” said Jennifer Sheets, CEO of the National Alliance for Care at Home.
The Alliance encourages individuals and organizations to participate in Care at Home Month throughout November on social media, using the hashtags #CareAtHomeMonth and #HomeIsWhereCareHappens. Alliance members also have access to a range of other National Care at Home Month outreach resources.
