Unites Community to Educate the Public and Policymakers on Value of Home-Based Care
(Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC) – November marks the start of National Care at Home Month, an annual observance created to honor the valuable contributions of home care providers nationwide and inspire outreach to communities, media, and policymakers. National Care at Home Month is spearheaded by the National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance), the largest organization representing, advocating for, educating, and connecting providers of care in the home for millions across the US who depend on that care.
National Care at Home Month honors the full continuum of care at home providers and the patients and families they serve. This month offers an opportunity for the community to come together with One Voice for Care at Home to advocate for our shared goal — an America where all aging or living with serious or acute illness have access to high-quality, person-centered healthcare wherever they call home. The observance also enables care at home providers to educate the public on the care that is available to them and how best to plan and prepare for the care they wish to receive.
“Home-based care is a national treasure, preferred by patients and families for a wide array of care and support services. National Care at Home Month provides an opportunity for the care at home community to stand together with one voice and highlight the value of these essential types of care and help. Patients, providers, and community members work to continue building critical awareness and protect access to home-based care for millions of Americans nationwide,” said Dr. Steve Landers, CEO of the National Alliance for Care at Home.
The Alliance encourages individuals and organizations to participate in its annual Social Media Action Day on Friday, November 7, using the hashtags #CareatHomeMonth and #OneVoiceforCareatHome. Alliance members also have access to a range of other National Care at Home Month outreach resources.
