(Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC) — The National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance) and the Research Institute for Home Care (the Institute) are excited to announce the release of the 2025 Home Health Chartbook. Published annually by the Institute and co-sponsored by the Alliance, this publication provides a broad overview of home health patients, the workforce, organizational trends, and the economic contribution of home health agencies. The Chartbook also provides data on 30-day rehospitalization rates for select primary diagnoses.
This research, compiled and charted by KNG Health Consulting LLC, summarizes and analyzes statistics on home health from a range of government sources, including the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Medicare Cost Reports, and Medicare fee-for-service claims.
“As demand for care in the home continues to grow, home health remains a cornerstone of keeping seniors and those recovering from injury or illness safe, healthy, and at home,” said Alliance CEO and President of the Institute, Jennifer Sheets. “The 2025 Home Health Chartbook highlights who is receiving care, who is delivering it, and how home health agencies drive quality and value across the health system. Reliable data is essential to understanding both the challenges and the opportunities facing home health agencies, and this chartbook provides our community with a comprehensive snapshot of the state of home health.”
On March 24, the Alliance and the Institute will host a webinar on the 2025 Home Health Chartbook findings. This webinar will share critical data and information relevant to the home health community. We invite Alliance members and the media to attend this important conversation. Register here.
Over the course of March and April, the Alliance and the Institute are releasing a series of research reports including the 2025 Hospice Facts and Figures report, and additional chartbooks on Hospice and Medicaid HCBS. Stay tuned to the Alliance for release announcements and support the future of care at home by considering a contribution to the Research Institute for Home Care.
