About

As the unified voice for providers delivering compassionate, end-of-life care in the home, the Alliance strongly opposes efforts to integrate hospice into Medicare Advantage (MA).

Hospice is a highly specialized service that ensures dignity, comfort, and choice at the end of life—values best upheld through the current Medicare carve-out. Past attempts to include hospice in MA plans revealed challenges such as administrative burdens, difficulty creating networks, and delayed payments for claims. Lower reimbursement rates raised concerns about the financial viability of hospices and decreased access to hospice care. Preserving hospice as a carved-out benefit under Traditional Medicare is essential to ensuring timely access, protecting patient choice, and sustaining the integrity of this vital care model.
