(Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC) – The National Alliance for Care at Home (the Alliance), the leading advocate for the care at home community and the patients and families they serve, congratulates Dr. Mehmet Oz on his confirmation to serve as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

“The Alliance looks forward to working with Dr. Oz and CMS to protect and expand access to care in the home so that the millions of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries who rely on these critical services will be able to timely receive them from high quality providers,” said Dr. Steve Landers, CEO of the Alliance. “Supporting and advancing policies that promote and protect access to healthcare services in the home have never been more critical to meeting the needs of a growing aging population. Strengthening access to these services and implementing a strong, fair method of oversight ensures patients and families can make the decisions that best meet their needs. We look forward to working together to support policies that uphold these vital options.”

Dr. Oz’s confirmation comes at a pivotal moment as the Alliance continues its engagement with CMS to expand access to hospice, home health, personal care, and other home-based services for seniors and individuals with chronic conditions; ensure fair and sustainable reimbursement structures for Medicare and Medicaid programs; and advance targeted and effective program integrity efforts.

The Alliance remains committed to working with CMS to advance policies that enhance access to care at home—one of the most effective ways to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes while reducing overall healthcare costs.

“Care at home is not only the most compassionate and patient-centered option, but it is also one of the most cost-effective solutions for our healthcare system,” Dr. Landers continued. “By expanding access across all service lines, we can provide high-quality care in the home – the setting patients overwhelmingly prefer while easing financial pressures.”
