Project ECHO
What is Project ECHO?
Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a virtual learning model that connects healthcare providers with subject matter experts through videoconferencing, short lectures, and case-based discussions. It supports peer-to-peer learning and shared problem-solving through a hub-and-spoke format.
While the Alliance for Care at Home is no longer running an active ECHO program, resources from previous sessions remain available below to support ongoing learning and practice.
Case Study Content and HIPAA Privacy Protection
Project ECHO case studies do not include any protected health information (PHI) in patient clinical case studies. Per federal HIPAA regulations, PHI is any identifiable health information that is used, maintained, stored, or transmitted by a HIPAA-covered entity – a healthcare provider, health plan or health insurer, or a healthcare clearinghouse – or a business associate of a HIPAA-covered entity, in relation to the provision of healthcare or payment for healthcare services. Read more about the HIPAA Privacy Rule and PHI protection.
