Project Overview

Grief Support Group

The Alliance End-of-Life Doula Community is pleased to offer a Grief Support Group to the public. This program is open to anyone dealing with a recent death, or who feels that they may benefit from several time-limited, free, and confidential individual grief support sessions, facilitated by a seasoned End-of-Life Doula. If you or someone you know is grieving due to a recent death-related loss, we’d like to assist you by lending a professional, compassionate listening ear.

This brief program consists of:

  • Four free, private, one-hour (non-clinical) grief support sessions
  • Scheduled, one-on-one conversations with a Doula about your loss
  • Meetings are held via telephone or video conferencing (Zoom)
  • An additional two sessions (for a total of 6) with your Doula, if you wish
  • Services may be provided in English or Spanish

Grief is a normal human reaction to loss, and bereavement is the process we naturally undertake to heal from our losses and move forward with our lives.

An End-of-Life Doula is a holistically trained, non-medical “companion” whose primary job is to offer an extra layer of care and emotional support before, during, and after a death. Talking to a professional doula about your loss can help you navigate your grief and “jumpstart” your personal healing process.

How do I sign up?

If you’d like to participate as a short-term client in the Grief Support Group, simply complete this online form or send an email to eoldoula@allianceforcareathome.org with your name and contact information. Either way, you’ll be matched with an End-of-Life Doula and will receive grief support services at your convenience.

“Because of the support I received… I feel stronger and less alone in this world, despite the profound loss I have experienced. With patience and grace, my doula guided me through this first stage and provided me tools & ways to accept my new reality. I am forever grateful to her and the NHPCO for this opportunity to heal.” -C. Gutierrez
