New Year. New Congress. New Legislation That Could Impact Home Care Providers
As the 119th Congress convenes, the Alliance is closely monitoring newly-introduced bills that could potentially affect home care and home health providers. While the full text of many of these bills has not yet been released, we want to assure you that our team is actively reviewing all relevant legislative activity to assess its potential impact on our industry and the clients we serve.
Although details are still emerging, the following bills have been introduced:
- H.R. 71 – To Direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to carry out a pilot program to improve the ability of veterans to access medical care in medical facilities of the Department of Veterans Affairs and in the community by providing the veterans the ability to choose health care providers.
- H.R. 74 – To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow for tax-advantaged distributions from health savings accounts during family or medical leave, and for other purposes.
- H.R. 109 – To require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to formally recognize caregivers of veterans, notify veterans and caregivers of clinical determinations relating to eligibility for caregiver programs, and temporarily extend benefits for veterans who are determined ineligible for the family caregiver program, and for other purposes.
As more information becomes available, we will analyze these proposals thoroughly to determine what, if any, impact they may have on home care providers if enacted. We will provide you with updates and advocacy opportunities to ensure your voices are heard.
In the meantime, we encourage you to stay engaged by sharing your experiences and concerns. This input is critical as we continue to advocate for policies that support the sustainability and growth of home care services.
Rest assured, the Alliance is committed to protecting and advancing the interests of our members throughout this legislative session. Watch for updates in future newsletters, and be sure to check our Advocacy Action Center for timely opportunities to make an impact.
We will navigate the road ahead and ensure that home care takes its rightful place as the center of American health care.
