How to Develop New Care at Home Managers

The Alliance’s Manager Development Program (MDP) is the only comprehensive management training program that provides timely information and helps managers develop the skills they need to meet the challenges and changes they face managing programs, systems, and people.

Level I | MDP Foundational Course: January 27 – March 10

The Foundational Course is the initial step in a developmental program for new and aspiring hospice and care at home managers, focusing on essential values, hospice regulations, and standards. It includes a leadership assessment, critical thinking development, and strategies for interviewing, coaching, feedback, and evaluation. This online module also offers an opportunity to become part of the ongoing learning community that is part of the Manager Development Program. The course is now open for registration.

Module Objectives

After completing this module, participants will be able to:

  • Describe a values-based approach to management and leadership
  • Determine the hospice manager’s role in compliance and accountability
  • Assess individual leadership styles and adaptability
  • Discuss the relationship between your style as a manager and problem solving and outcomes
  • Define, explain, and identify keys to the effective use of behavioral interviewing, feedback, coaching and performance appraisal
